We were asked by our client to maximize the development potential of a modest but not unassuming 2 storey Victorian terraced building,The historical development of the street which spans several centuries of socio-economic change exhibits a wide variety of architectural styles.

The design proposal subsequently looks at a solution which allows the building to occupy its own place in the hierarchy of the terrace. Whilst the volume, material and scale respond to the host building, the glazed openings also respond to the rhythm generated by the façade of the adjoining Listed Building. The accommodation provides for a two bedroom apartment dug out from the basement, a ground floor shop and two self contained flats to the upper floors.
